A Denver native, Rita always knew she would return to Colorado to open a bar. Growing up 3rd generation in the restaurant biz. Raised by a single Dad, her fondest childhood memories were created in bars, dining rooms and kitchens. After high school, Rita headed to Hawaii and then on to the San Francisco Bay area to do some California dreamin’ and to build her own career in the service industry. Rita spent the next 20 years working her way up in the business, partnering in a few restaurants along the way. In October 2017, Rita decided to get back to her roots and moved back to Colorado, to make her dream of owning a bar a reality. These days, you can find Rita behind the bar, searching for new great eats, reading, walking her beloved pup Bodhi, or mingling with friends around the city.
FAVORITE DRINK: A.D. Laws Four Grain Straight Bourbon, neat.
A Northern California gal, Katie grew up in the food industry with a mom and dad who worked beautifually together as dietician and food service manager for Chico State University. There were always foodie parties and lots of ice sculptures (it was the 70’s). Katie loved to help in the Kitchen and learn from her Italian relatives, she also felt most at home in the abundant organic garden her parents grew and collecting the eggs from their 12 chickens. Katie continued in the wellness field receiving her Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2001 and her yoga teacher certification in 1997. She has worked to help patients with all aspects of healing from chronic pain to a myriad of orthopedic struggles. In 2017, she traded the waves for the slopes to call Denver her new home. She is now channeling her knowledge and perspective through the culinary side of Rita’s Law and continuing to teach yoga and see private clients. When Katie is not on the bus she is found “cheers”-ing friends, taking in live music, getting out in nature or snuggling her fur babies Bodhi and India.
FAVORITE DRINK:The Family Jones Annika Jones vodka martini with a twist
Affectionately known as “Mr. Snuggles”, Bodhi may not be the official lawmaker but he is definitely the enforcer. From welcoming guests to the bar to managing the Pooch Program, there’s no doubt that this pint-sized team member takes his job seriously. Bodhi comes from humble beginnings; he was rescued by Rita and Katie as a wee pup from a local shelter in San Francisco. Now a proud Denverite, Bodhi is happy to be living large in the Mile High City. When he isn’t manning the bar, Bodhi enjoys patrolling his neighborhood, hanging out with his cat-sister India, and hiding bones and treats around the house.
